International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has launched a book on “Agriculture and the Rural Economy in Pakistan; Issues, Outlooks and Policy Priorities”.
The launching ceremony of the book was held at National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) which was attended by national and international agriculture experts, scientists, academicians and researchers. The book was authored and edited by Sohail J Malik, Nuzhat Ahmad, David Spielman and Paul Dorosh, where as a large number of authors have written almost thirteen chapters on different issued faced by the agriculture sector. The representatives of international development agencies including USAID, FAO-Pakistan, CIMMYT, ICARDA and others attended the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony experts acknowledged the launching of the book and term it a very useful for policy makers, planner and academia.
They said that the book would help the researchers, students development practitioners and rural communities whose work was essential to accelerating growth, development and poverty reduction in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Acting Chairman PARC, Dr. Nadeem Amjad, congratulated authors of the book for producing a such useful book. There were good suggestions in the book for policy makers, researchers and planners to prepare development projects for agriculture and rural development, he added.
