The Punjab government has notified composition of all 36 District Health Authorities (DHAs) and District Education Authorities (DEAs) according to the provision of the Punjab Local Government Act, 2013.
According to the notifications, there will be four DHAs and DEAs for districts Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib. In Lahore 20 indirectly elected members of the Lahore Metropolitan Corporation and 16 technocrat members will be included in DHAs and DEAs of Lahore.
In Kasur 31-member DHAs and DEAs will be constituted, including five indirectly elected members of the Kasur District Council, three from Kasur Municipal Committee, one from each municipal committee of Mustafaabad, Khudian, Chunian, Pattoki, Phool Nagar, Kot Radha Kishan, Kanganpur, Raja Jang and Ellahabad. The DHAs and DEAs will also have 14 technocrat members, ie 80% of the total elected members.
District Sheikhupura will also have 31-member DHAs and DEAs comprising indirectly elected members of the District Council Sheikhupura, Municipal Committees Sheikhupura, Ferozewala, Safdarabad, Sharaqpur, Muridke, Farooqabad, Kot Abdul Malik, Narang Mandi, Khanqah Dogran and Manawala.
There will be six technocrat members out of total 14 members of the DHAs and DEAs in Nankana Sahib. Four members will be indirectly elected from Nankana Sahib District Council and one each from municipal committee Nankana Sahib, Shahkot, Sangla Hill and Warbarton.
Similarly, composition is notified for other districts of the province in which technocrat member will form 80% of the elected representatives.
The Punjab government had constituted these authorities on January 1 with the inauguration of local government systems in the province. The government has appointed deputy commissioners of respective districts as administrators of these authorities.
