Importance of education in the light of Allama Iqbal’s ideas discussed

We own Allama Iqbal, but we don’t follow his teachings. He gave us lesson of self-esteem meaning thereby is that we should bring forth our hidden qualities and virtues and act upon them to produce well for the nation and the country. Our daydreaming can be realized, provided we should take inspiration from Iqbal’s poetry, which gives us “power of belief and action”.
This was stated by Arshad Mahmood, Chief Guest and Chairman, Pak-Qatar Business Council, while he was addressing the meeting of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter on the theme: “Importance of Education in the light of Iqbal’s thoughts”, at a local hotel.
Commending the speeches, made by young speakers, he said that a young speaker quoted a couplet from Iqbal’s famous nazam “Dua”, this was not mere a nazam, but a philosophy of peaceful and successful life and the children should make it the main goal of their lives; if they did so they would be able to abolish the darkness of illiteracy, poverty, injustice and tyranny not only from their own country but whole world.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said that Allama Iqbal had many expectations from the youths and children of the nation, but unfortunately no heed, according to the wishes of Iqbal, was paid on education as more than 2.5 millions children were out of schools in the country, she said, adding that instead of increase, a criminal reduction has been made in education budget in last several years.
She said that visualizing the importance of quality of education Hakim Said had opened two schools Hamdard Public School and Hamdard Village School at Madinat al-Hikmah, a city of education, science and culture, imparting quality education according to the vision of Hakim Said.
Government should take necessary steps to up grade the standard of government schools and be mindful that a very large number of children were not attending schools, she added.
