Lakki hosts colourful sports gala ceremony

LAKKI MARWAT: A colourful ceremony was held to inaugurate 10-day Marwat sports gala at Children Park here on Thursday that will provide a chance of healthy and recreational activities to local youth.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan was chief guest on the occasion while district naib nazim Arab Khan, tehsil nazim Hidayatullah Khan, Naurang tehsil nazim Maulana Ezazullah, Assistant Commissioner Aun Haider Gondal and other officials besides local government representatives and notables of the town attended the opening ceremony.

The sports gala has been organised by tehsil government. Boy Scouts and students sang patriotic songs and exhibited rifle drill, PT show, march past and presented tableaus on the occasion.

The participants were jubilant to watch horse dance and skills of a karate team. Doves and pigeons were also released on the occasion as a gesture of peace.

The local youths, students and players from other districts will participate in sports activities including football, volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, tent pegging, crossbow and tug of war.

Mr Bakhtiar said on the occasion that youth could be prepared for future challenges by providing them with opportunities to take part in sports and healthy activities.

He said that local government and district administration would make all out efforts to promote peace through sports.
