Thousands devotees of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar have gathered in shrine city of Sehwan from across the country to participate in the three-day annual event that will conclude on May 28.
Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad laying floral wreath at the last abode of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar officially opened the Urs. Sindh Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah was also accompanied with the governor.
The governor directed the local administration to ensure facilities to the devotees of the shrine including saving them from heat, water supply and other facilities.
The well-to-do devotees have hired the houses of local residents on rent in Sehwan. The others who have brought tents with them have setting up tents at the open places in the city, while make-shift markets having stalls of garments, digital and electronic appliances, artificial jewellery, floral wreaths, garlands and sweets are also prepared along road sides leading towards the shrine.
The restaurants and tea shops have also been decorated with colourful buntings to attract and welcome the visitors.
The Mela Organising Committee, headed by the deputy commissioner, Jamshoro, has made arrangements to facilitate the devotees by establishing cold drinking water camps, medical camps and activities like traditional Sindhi wrestling “Malakhra”, horse and cattle show and agro-industrial exhibition in Sehwan. Besides, the literary conference and musical concerts also being organised.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah will be the chief guest in the concluding ceremony of the urs on May 28, the third and last day of the urs celebrations.
