‘Legal fraternity should ensure provision of speedy justice to litigants’

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday said that the bench and bar are an integral part of the judicial system, therefore, it is incumbent upon both of them to address legal needs and expectations of litigants by providing speedy justice to them.

The chief justice expressed these views while addressing a body of outgoing members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), headed by Rasheed Rizvi, and newly elected body of SCBA, headed by its President Syed Muhammad Kaleem Ahmed Khursheed.

CJP Saqib Nisar said that the role of bar was very important to improve the justice system, adding that without the cooperation of the bar, it was impossible to dispense justice in the most effective way.

Bidding farewell to outgoing SCBA President Rasheed Rizvi and his cabinet members, the chief justice praised the services rendered by them, and said that the SCBA under Rasheed Rizvi performed very well.

He said that all the members of his cabinet played their roles devotedly and wholeheartedly for the cause of ensuring smooth dispensation of justice.

Felicitating the newly elected SCBA President Syed Muhammad Kaleem and his cabinet, the CJP welcomed the bar and hoped that it would carry out its job in the best possible manner. He further assured them that he along with other judges of the Supreme Court would extend full cooperation to the bar for strengthening judiciary in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Rasheed Rizvi appreciated the CJP’s contribution to the cause of administration of justice.

The newly elected president of the SCBA assured of his full cooperation to strengthen the institution by supporting the rule of law and independence of judiciary.

At the end of the meeting, the chief justice presented a shield to the outgoing cabinet members as a token of respect and gesture of goodwill. The outgoing members reciprocated by presenting a memento to Justice Saqib Nasir on the occasion.
