Pak-China research centre opens at UoS

A joint research centre for Dry Land Agro Ecology, jointly established by Pakistan and China at University of Sargodha started functioning here on Tuesday.
Federal Secretary for Science and Technology Fazal Abbas Maken inaugurated the centre, set up by the Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad (PSF) and the University of Sargodha in collaboration with Lanzhou University, China.
Lanzhou University Vice President Prof Gao Xicai, PSF Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf and UoS Vice Chancellor Dr Nazra Sultana were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Fazal Abbas Maken said that China is the iron brother of Pakistan and both the countries are going to start educational, research and agricultural development programmes.
The Lanzhou University VP said that his country would provide economic, educational and research support for agricultural development in Pakistan. PSF chairman Dr Ashraf said there is extra-ordinary talent in the UoS agricultural scientist, which must be utilised for the development of agriculture. UoS VC Dr Nazra Sultana said that with the Chinese help, every project, especially those pertaining to education and research would be successful. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr Muhammad Afzal also address to the ceremony.
