Probe into illegal local government appointments in AJK ordered

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Tuesday ordered a probe into the illegal appointments in the local government (LG) departments during the previous government’s tenure.

According to a notification issued by the Service and General Administration department, a two member committee had been constituted and ordered to submit its report on this matter within 15 days.

Environmental Protection Agency Director General Raja Razzaq Khan has been directed to head the committee while the Services (Rules) Additional Secretary will be a member of the committee.

During the tenure of the previous Pakistan People’s Party government, hundreds of appointments, up to grade 18, were allegedly made by then Minister Ch Yaseen on a political basis without following the rules and procedures.
