UNCESCR EXPRESSES SATISFACTION OVER IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS CONVENTION IN PAKISTAN

In Geneva, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights has expressed satisfaction over implementation of its Convention in Pakistan.

The Committee reviewed Pakistan’s report on International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Pakistani delegation led by Minister for Human Rights Kamran Michael submitted its initial report on International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

The delegation informed the Committee that this initial report has been prepared through an inclusive, participatory and consultative process.

Addressing the session, Kamran Michael said Pakistan strongly believe that strengthening of democracy, rule of law, culture of accountability, unprecedented freedom of media, and emergence of a vibrant civil society will further bring economic prosperity and social equality in the country.
