The District Education Authority established in 36 districts of Punjab is yet to get powers to start functioning.
The Chief Executive Officers Education have also been appointed, however, they have not been informed about their powers, while the rules of business have also not been defined yet.
The CEO has no authority either to approve or disapprove the holidays, making appointments of teachers along with other related issues.
The teachers unions have protested against the move and asked why the body was established if they were not interested in handing over the powers.
The teachers unions urged the relevant authority to hand over the powers at the earliest, otherwise the teachers would start demonstrations and boycott academic activities.
